Apple's Executive Chair Handover | Priced Continuity
The Cook-to-Ternus succession is settled in title but not in power. The pay split Apple filed on the new chief executive's first day tells you where the board thinks the risk still sits.
Apple has priced its most sensitive transition of the century not around the incoming operator but around the outgoing one. Apple has effectively unbundled the CEO job. Ternus gets product, operations, and the P&L; Cook re‐ tains the geopolitical and relationship perimeter under a chair title. The pay symmetry is the tell — you don't pay a ceremonial chair four-fifths of the CEO's number. You pay for a portfolio you can't afford to have lapse.

The Conduct Turn | Meta's Settlement & Amazon's Ad-Auction Suit
Amazon’s Ad-Auction Suit, Meta’s Child-Safety Settlement & Where Big-Tech Risk Is Migrating
On 31 August, the FTC and 22 state attorneys general sued Amazon in the Western District of Washington, alleging the company secretly overcharged advertisers by more than $20 billion. Five days earlier, on 26 August, Meta agreed to pay up to roughly $17 billion to settle a multistate child-safety case mid-trial. Different statutes, different harms — but one signal. The center of gravity in Big-Tech enforcement has moved off the antitrust battlefield, where the govern‐ ment keeps losing, and onto the terrain of conduct and disclosure, where it keeps winning money.
The week didn’t produce a break-up, and probably won’t. It produced something more durable for the sec‐ tor: a bipartisan, state-anchored enforcement model aimed squarely at the monetization layer and settled in cash and disclosure rather than divestiture. That — not the antitrust headline — is the risk to price now.

Two Theories of the Face Wearables | Meituan, Even Realities & How the Post-Smartphone Interface Gets Funded
A $150 million round at a $1 billion valuation is the least interesting fact about Even Realities. Read together, the company’s cap table and its product philosophy map two competing theories of how the post-smartphone interface gets built — and who is willing to pay for it.

Micron's Record Print, Read Twice | The Contract Wall and the China Memory Split
One blowout quarter, two structural reads. Micron is converting a shortage into contracted revenue; China is converting the same scarcity into market share, IPO capital, and capacity. The print validates the supercycle, but the durable signal is the conversion of scarcity into position — contractual on Micron's side, structural on China's. Neither wrapper repeals cyclicality; both raise the normalized base around which the next cycle oscillates.
